All of these resolutions are vague. What does resolution mean? You may remember a few weeks back we talked about resolve, and more specifically asked hos solid your resolve was to hold to your principles, values and goals. You see, if we don’t start with a firm resolve chances are we won’t progress to true change. However, we firm resolve also needs a plan on how you will move forward with action. Good Housekeeping has listed 55 resolutions for a happier and healthier life, which I really see as small actions you can take each day. Is that the key? Small actions = results? We believe so! A great plan is worth the effort. Why do companies and organizations have entire teams that work on the plan right down to small actions? Because it works. Just as there is with any strategy, there are many ways to achieve the end goal. Most of us have heard the Covey statement ‘start with the end in mind’. If you don’t know where you are going, how can you find your way? We use the VMOSA model. Vision – Mission – Objectives – Strategies – Actions. Over the next 4 weeks of January, we are going to walk through each step to keep you on focus to help you formulate a roadmap to success.
This week – let’s start the Vision! While focusing on the Actions! Start with either of these areas.
VISION: Download the Vision worksheet here. Or simply grab a piece of paper or blank document and list ALL the things you would like your life to include. Many of these will be values you have in life.
ACTIONS: Let the pen flow…list any and all actions you would like to incorporate for 2021. Wouldn’t it be fun to have 365, but let’s shoot for 30. That will fill a month with an action a day.
- Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
- Get 5000 steps.
- Eat 4 servings of vegetables.
- Eliminate processed foods.
- Practice mindfulness
- Your turn…
